House Manager
Qualifications
The House Manager position requires one year related work experience with people who have MR/DD and/or autism. Additionally, supervision/management experience as well as experience and knowedge of behavioral intervention and treatment is preferred. The House Manager should possess commitment and dedication to the group home and the residents served. The House Manager should have the ability to relate to persons with MR/DD and autism in a supportive and therapeutic manner.
General Responsibilities
- Ensure all Federal, state, local and ICF/MR standards and regulations are adhered to and followed by all employees.
- Ensure that all WNC Group Homes policies and procedures are followed.
- Provide on-call support as needed.
- Supervise all direct care staff on a 24 hour basis, ensuring all household procedures and learning programs are followed.
- Develop, monitor and maintain assigned areas of responsibilties for staff.
- Actively pursue professional develpment through seeking out education via training seminars and conferences.
- Attend quarterly Med Review meeting and provide input on progress as needed.
Specific Duties
Residents
- Ensure residents' needs are met, inclduing doctor appointments, special dietary needs, procurement of leisure items, household supplies, etc.
- Maintain communication with QMRP regarding program needs and issues.
- Ensure advocate's responsibilities are met on a monthly basis.
- Ensure advocate attendance at Habilitation Plan meetings, and attend in absence of advocate.
- Develop and maintain household chore list for residents.
- Observe, monitor and maintain mealtime routine.
Staff
- Supervise Resident Teachers (RT).
- Conduct performance evaluations as indicated by agency policy.
- Provide documented counseling and disciplinary action as needed, in conjunction with supervision.
- Provide specific trainings for RT which include agency and house policies and ICF/MR standards.
- Conduct observations to monitor staff interactions with residents to ensure appropriateness and compliance with ICF/MR standards.
- Plan and conduct weekly house staff meetings.
- Conduct regular monitoring of the medication administration record and provide feedback to staff.
Household
- Ensure the group home is clean and well maintained.
- Ensure implementation of fire drills.
- Monitor for needed repairs and their timely completion and correction.
- Ensure that materials needed for house operations such as medications, groceries and cleaning supplies, are available.
